The SoundScapes project introduces an innovative STEAM approach that places a strong emphasis on the Arts, engaging students in the creation and use of sonification environments—systems that convert numerical data into sound. This method promotes inclusive, sensory-rich learning, particularly benefiting visually impaired students, while fostering collaboration through the universal language of music.
Key Objectives:
- Enhance student motivation and engagement in STEAM through artistic and auditory exploration.
- Promote inclusivity by integrating alternative sensory learning experiences.
- Empower students to develop digital and technical skills through hands-on design.
Main Activities:
- Development of a cost-effective, replicable sonification prototype and accompanying user manual.
- Teacher training programs and student workshops for designing and applying the sonification systems.
- In-class support to guide practical implementation in diverse educational contexts.
Expected Impact:
- Improved digital readiness and technical skills in programming, electronics, and sensors.
- Increased student interest in STEAM subjects and school engagement.
- Creation of an online platform to share student projects and foster a transnational maker community rooted in European citizenship and collaborative problem-solving.
