The AR-STEAMapp project aimed to enhance the teaching of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) by creating meaningful connections between these disciplines through an innovative educational tool: an Augmented Reality (AR) application. This app uses European cultural heritage as a context to help students aged 12–16 explore and integrate STEAM concepts in an engaging and interdisciplinary way.
Alongside the app, a comprehensive pedagogical guide was developed to support teachers in implementing the STEAM approach in their classrooms. The guide offers a wide range of activity suggestions, allowing educators from various disciplines to tailor content based on the competencies they wish to develop in students.
Key Objectives:
- Promote the STEAM educational approach through AR and cultural heritage.
- Support digital transformation in education.
- Equip teachers with practical tools and frameworks to adopt interdisciplinary teaching methods.
- Ensure the sustainability and dissemination of results, including public access via the project website.
Implementation Highlights:
- International collaboration through transnational meetings in Spain, Turkey, and Portugal.
- A teaching-learning activity in Portugal with the participation of 13 teachers and educational authorities.
- Regular online coordination meetings to manage the project's innovative elements.
The project successfully strengthened teacher capacity, promoted student engagement in STEAM, and offered a scalable model for interdisciplinary and digital education.
