The Discovery Space project aims to develop a comprehensive roadmap for transforming traditional STEM classrooms into AI-enhanced learning environments that foster scientific exploration and support the development of essential skills for all students.
The project begins with a foresight research exercise to examine the potential, opportunities, risks, accessibility challenges, and sustainability aspects of integrating emerging technologies—such as AI-powered assessment systems and AR/VR interfaces—into STEM education.
At its core, Discovery Space will design an Exploratory Learning Environment that encourages inquiry-based learning and problem-solving through the use of virtual and remote laboratories. AI-driven lifelong learning companions will offer real-time support and guidance, while immersive VR/AR tools will enhance collaboration and engagement.
The project will also deliver a collection of good practice scenarios and pilot implementations to demonstrate effective use of these technologies. In parallel, a Teacher Training Academy will be established to equip educators with the necessary skills and strategies for integrating AI and immersive technologies into inclusive, creative, and critical STEM teaching.
